Select tracks from ‘By the Mountain’s Feet’ can be heard on SoundCloud. Have a listen, follow if you’re a SoundClouder - enjoy and bless ya soul.

Songs begin as ideas, parts of a melody, usually with an ukelele or beach guitar. The band plays it on the road and people dance or cry if it’s any good! Now we’re at the recording phase and going for the most organic classic warm sound we can, with a few modern surprises here and there. I am living some of my favorite moments right now and will share the sonic results of them with you soon. Bless Up!!

Aston Family Man Barrett has been holding it down for 4 1/2 decades!! Vibe is still solid. (at Commodore Ballroom)

This Sunday afternoon we’re working on the last 2 songs being produced by Jason Kechely. This is Chris Gestrin, keyboard wizard, he’ll be bringing the magic sauce for Red Moon and False Flags. I wrote these on piano, and am so excited to hear them played by a real player. Wait to hear him shred on this Hammond Organ!!! (at Afterlife Studios)

Second Day of recording. Second song down, Carnival Ride. This tune is about our addiction to oil and the battle’s being fought against pipelines here at home and across the world. Still, you gotsta keep it groovy. This sexy protest music. (at Afterlife Studios)

First things first. Load and set up the drums, this always takes a big chunk of the initial day. John Raham’s studio is like stepping back in time, with vintage preamps and boards, old pianos and keyboards. Sam Cartwright is calm and collected, ready to get the drums sounding fat and tight. I’m on a coffee and snacks run, the mood is light & Jason Kechely and I are having laugh sharing bad jokes and listening to Beck’s new record in the car. Rest of the band will be showing up in the next hour or so.. (at Afterlife Studios)
